Supervision and Consultation

Rachel Michaelsen, LCSW, provides therapy supervision and consultation for therapists Rachel Michaelsen, LCSW, frequently tells people that she is a therapist, she trains people to be therapists, and she trains people who train people to be therapists. Not only has she had the opportunity to supervise beginning and advanced mental-health providers and supervisors, but she has also been privileged to teach clinical-supervision courses to supervisors throughout California and across the county.

Ms. Michaelsen is available to provide clinical supervision to MFT trainees and interns, LPCC interns, and Associate Social Workers, in person and via videoconferencing. (MFT interns, LPPC interns, and ASWs working in government entities, schools, colleges or universities, or nonprofit/charitable institutions may obtain all supervision via live, two-way videoconferencing.)

She also provides clinical consultation to licensed clinicians and supervisors.



Since 1996, Ms. Michaelsen has provided clinical supervision and consultation to paraprofessionals, baccalaureate and graduate school mental-health interns, MFT interns, ASWs, licensed therapists, and clinical supervisors.

She has supervised staff members and interns at, among other places:

  • Community Health for Asian Americans (formally Asian Pacific Psychology Services)
  • Tiburcio Vasques Health Center
  • Private consultation

Ms. Michaselsen has been teaching continuing-education courses on supervision topics since 2000, including the 15-hour course required for MFTs and LCSWs to supervise social workers for their pre-licensure hours, as well as various six-hour courses required for supervision of MFT trainees and interns and pre- and post-doctoral psychologists.
